The Nursery

My cute Sister-in-law is having her first a baby next month. She asked me, a long time ago, if I would help paint her nursery. She wanted a farm and an apple tree with a swing.

This weekend the girls (13 and 7) and I finally got a chance to work on it. There was one entire blank wall as our canvas! Well, it was almost blank, there were 3 handprints saved from the previous wall treatment. They are the handprints of the coming baby's siblings (I tried to make them into butterflies). We took 5 or 6 childrens books with us as farm our research.

It took us the better part of two days to get it done, and we are all really happy with the results. My oldest daughter was so much help with the painting. She is very talented, and I didn't even know it until we started this. My 7 year old was the official squeezer of the paint tubes, and washer of the brushes!

We had a ball. It isn't often that it is only the girls! The girls sang, and giggled, and in the end we were all happy with the results!

This is for you, baby we don't know yet! We can't wait to meet you!

That turned out darling! We built the house previous to the one we are in now by ourselves. Under the stairway was the perfect little playroom for kids. I did a farm mural on all four walls and the ceiling. I think that was the saddest part about leaving that house. :C

I love the painting. You did a great job! It sounds like you had a great time, too. Those are the best moments when you can let go and do something fun with your kids.
