*Religious Content*

As most of you already know

I am a "Mormon".
(I didn't say moron, but most of you may already know I'm that too!)

The real name of our Church is

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In the last few weeks I have been asked several questions about Mormons.
Now seems like a good time to answer them.
If you find the subject offensive- I suggest you exit the blog now, and come back on Monday!

1- "How many Wives does your husband have?"

The answer is- ONE. I am his only wife.

Polygamy was part of the early church, but is not part of it now.
Polygamists are not Mormon.

2- "Why don't Mormons believe in the Bible? Why do you have your own scriptures?"

We do believe in the Bible, and use the King James version in our studies.
We have additional Scriptures called

that serve as another testament of Jesus Christ.
3- "Why don't you drink coffee, or beer?"
We have been given a commandment that we call
I believe that if we live by these words our bodies will be healthier and our minds will be stronger.
It also helps us learn discipline and obedience.
If you have any other questions about the church
dheck out the official website.
or, ask me.....I might be able to answer!

Thanks for helping to dispel some of the misconceptions out there! I'm a Lutheran, glad to meet you!

Very interesting! I love hearing about things from actual followers, not the "rumors". I've had some very enlightening conversations with Jehovah's Witnesses lately, too, and had some myths debunked.

I have a strong faith, just don't know what religion I really am!

Always happy to see Mormon myths dispelled. I'm Lutheran, but my husband's family is Mormon and they are truly lovely, nice, normal, people. Some of our doctrine is very different, but we're all just people and we rub along quite nicely together!

When we were first married I read an old journal written by my husband's grandmother. She had a new neighbor who came to visit fairly often and after several months the woman commented that she had been warned the Burley area was full of Mormons but she hadn't met any yet. The Grandmother asked her how she would know when she met one. "They have horns," that's what her preacher back east actually told her while warning her about the "evil" Mormons. We still laugh about it several decades later!

I am not a Mormom, although as your honorary sister I almost am.

What I find hard to understand is that many people seem to think that Mormons don't believe in Jesus or the Bible. Um, hello! Read the name of the church again!

Knowing my several Mormon friends, I can say that if everyone raised their families the way they do, the world would be a nice place.

Oh. Well, maybe I AM a "Mormom," whatever that is. But I'm not a Mormon.

I didn't know you were Mormon too! Isn't it so funny the things that get spread around? Expecially the "horns"? That was a new one for me. Too funny. I think you did a wonderful job dispelling those silly rumors- sweet and simple.

Interesting how certain perceptions seems to stay - like the one about Mormons having many wives! Maybe you can answer this question for me? I am told Mormons are not allowed to use contraceptives. Is this true? I have a client that claims to be a Mormon, although he only has one wife, he has many children. In fact, his wive seems to be pregnant all the time!
