Full of Good Intentions

Do you remember, about 10 years ago, when Oprah told us all about her "Grateful Journal" .

Being a mother of 2 little ones at the time, and full of good intentions, I decided that before prayer each night we would write down what each one of us was thankful for that day.

It wasn't many months until the journal became to much hassle in the nightly chaos...and was banished to the closet.

Each year, at Thanksgiving time, I am full of good intentions again.
I want to help my kids see the goodness in this life.
I think that this is what we are going to do this year.

Thanks, Between Hitching Posts, for the idea!

What do you do at Thanksgiving to show thanks?

When we have Thanksgiving at my aunt's house, they cut out a big red heart and hang it on the pantry door in the kitchen, behind the table. They tape a pen to the door, and each time you walk past you're supposed to write something you're thankful for. By the end of the night the heart is so full there is hardly any room left on it.

I, too, have an off and on love affair with the gratitude journal. I do THINK thanks at least once a day, every day.

Thank you for showing my Thanksgiving tree. I hope that it brings your family as many good memories as it has brought ours.
